Ana Ivanovic Retains Bali Crown
Former first-ranked player, Ana Ivanovic of Serbia became two-times titlist at Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions , which ended today at Indonesian Island of Bali.
In the finals, Birthday girl Ivanovic, currently ranked 26th, defeated 28th-ranked Annabel Medina Garrigues of Spain, in straight sets, 6-3 6-0.
The 24-year-old Ivanovic broke Medina Garrigues’ serve in the second game of the first set, and never looked back, winning the first set easy, and demolishing her Spanish opponent in the second set. The Spaniard didn’t manage to earn a break-point during the match which lasted 61 minutes.
This is the first title of the season for Ana Ivanovic and 11th in her career, giving her $210,000 in prize money and 375 WTA ranking points.
