Andy Murray Withdraws from ATP World Tour Finals

The British No. 1 Andy Murray has pulled out from the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals due to a groin injury, and Serbian World No. 9 Janko Tipsarevic is set to take his place in Group A.

The world No. 3 said that it was a very difficult decsion for him, because the season-ending finale has been on of the best tournaments to play and took the whole season to qualify.

Murray confessed that he had not been able to practice properly last week, after injuring his groin during training last Monday before. He lost in straight sets to David Ferrer of Spain in his opening match.

Murray had scored an outstanding performance after the US Open, winning three back-to-back titles, grabbing Asian swing and reaching No. 3 in the ATP Ranking, overtaking Roger Federer. Now, The Swiss could return to the third place, if he reaches semis in London, where he is the defending champion.

Tipsarevic will debut at the ATP World Tour Finals against Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic.
